Do You Want to Know a Secret?
By AnitoBopper, Dec. 27,2007

I’ve been recently thinking about ways to improve myself. Since the year is about to end, we usually make a list of our new year’s resolution and try to follow them at years start only to fall back a few days later, then months pass by and before we know it, another year has passed and we find ourselves at the very same spot where we first started.

Well, I’d really like to change everything this year, ever so seriously; I’m deciding right now to make a drastic U-turn. I’ve been on that road a gazillion times before and it’s now time to change. But I’m sure I’ll begin slacking early on so I’m taking precautionary measures not to slide this time.

Before I start my list, I’d like to take things in perspective and start really focusing on things that would matter to me most and disregard those which do not fit into the plan. I think ‘prioritizing’ is the term used for it.

For instance, being aware of the things that would distract me which would veer me away from my goals, like bad feelings, not to leap frog everything and take baby steps at a time, trying not to get too disappointed when things do not work as planned, things like these, which at the outset might not seem much but when put together self-destructs most goals I’ve been trying to achieve.

Come to think of it, I just realized that I’ve stated a couple of issues that have significantly affected most if not all the well laid out plan I started earlier in the year and later would turn out it into something different than the one I expected.

I’ll most probably do a paradigm shift and start reversing everything this year. And most importantly, to take necessary action on each and every detail important to achieving that goal.

I finished reading a book by Barbara Sher and Annie Gottlieb entitled “Wishcraft – How to Get What You Really Want”. She shares very practical tips on achieving things. It was published around the 80’s but it’s still applicable today.

She starts from awakening the childlike potential of anyone, then talks about the environment you grew up in, was it nurturing or degrading? Being aware of these things puts your mind in a position of control and this sparks the fuel of taking your life from wherever you are now to something you’ve always dreamt of.

Goal searching, listing problems and turning them to stepping stones and helping you connect to people who could help you attain those goals. She talks about them in more detail in the book.

And while doing all that, she touched upon “using imagination” without reality considerations. At the time I was reading her book, I wasn’t really aware of what she was talking about until now, when I found “The Secret”.

She tackles a lot more about hardships, emotions and other obstacles that hinder you to achieve your most precious dreams and how to overcome them.

And for inspiration, here’s something that’s been on the wire for about a year or two now. This is called “The Secret”. If you’re not familiar with it, just click on the link. And we’ll take it all from there.

This approach in looking at things gives us hope and direction to be able to achieve whatever it is we desire in life. Knowing what it is to do, would make our lives more interesting and more worth living compared to just living it on a day to day basis.

The secret says, the Law of Attraction makes this possible. Like attracts like, and when thoughts become things, the only thing holding us back would be the thoughts we create ourselves. The focus, attention and action we center our thoughts with can make or break that which we really desire. If we focus on the good things we desire, that’s what we get and the other way around if we focus on the bad.

This sounds simple really, but me, being a skeptic with all things intangible; I’d like to experience this concept for myself. I think the same principle is also being taught by Deepak Chopra in his books. I got a hold of that book before reading Wishcraft. His approach is a bit more eastern to me compared to Barbara’s Wishcraft.

I’m basically a slow learner. I really envy those who can learn things at a snap of a wrist. That’s why for me, what I do is repeat certain things in my mind so that it the idea kinda loops in my head and when information is retrieved from my mental drive, I’d remember the loop and that would most of the time give me the ‘aha’ moment I’ve been looking for.

In summary:

First and foremost, KNOW WHAT IT IS you really, really want. There’s no point in imagining things you desire if you do not know what you really want.

The Law of Attraction simply states that we make use of our thoughts to manifest things in our life. If we think good thoughts, good things come to us. Inversely, if we think bad thoughts, bad things come to us. That’s the Law of Nature. Your wish is always nature’s command. If that is true, then I certainly wouldn’t argue with the concept.

The problem with thoughts is we might not be aware of what we are thinking subconsciously compared to what we are consciously thinking. If we are thinking good thoughts consciously but subconsciously thinking the opposite, then the negative thought wins. And that is where frustration sets in.

We most certainly need to take command of our thoughts. That is the only time we are able to make things happen in our favor. HOW to do it is quite a different story, being in different backgrounds, religion, upbringing, this concept may or may not be easily accepted and/or absorbed by just everyone.

But sticking to the basic principles that thought becomes things, I think anyone who has an earnest desire to really want to change where he or she is at present has an equal amount of chance as anyone to be able to succeed by just using his/her freewill to focus on good thoughts and feelings related to your goal and most importantly also in taking action to achieve those goals.

This is where Barbara’s book comes in handy. Listing everything on a piece of paper and plotting everything makes us know where we are at a certain point in time. It’s like a map or like what you see in malls, the sign says – “you are here”, and tells you how to go about going to where you want to go next.

Lastly, I think this is very important when following the secret, monitor your “Thinking” with “Feelings” – this must coincide with each other instead of just monitoring all things that run in your head.

The good feeling/mood gives you feedback, like thoughts of joy, gratitude, excitement, love – sustain the feeling – feel the love even if it’s not there, when you are aware of the feeling you’re having, you know that you are on the right track in creating the future you always dreamt of.

That I think is the key to the Secret’s success.

When you do this, you become the magnet – your feelings and thought combined sways and beats in synchronicity and harmony with the universe. The “feel good” frame of mind becomes your beacon attracting the good opportunities to come your way and you become free. You are now able to rule your universe. Create your own universe as you go along.

I know all these things won’t come overnight. It’s always easier said than done. With years of bad programming in our heads, without really realizing that there’s a technique on how to manifest things, the bad habits we acquired through the years are quite difficult to just erase in a day. Practice makes perfect.

And as one commercial say, just do it. No more alibis, procrastination and what not. Information is power. Knowing how to use this information is the key to living a better life. It’s like finding the Holy Grail. The choice is yours. We all have freewill and no one can take that away.

All we have to do is practice it everyday until it becomes ingrained in our being as part and parcel of a good habit.

As Jesus once said:

“If you say to this mountain: ‘Get up and throw yourself into the sea,’ and have NO DOUBT in your heart but BELIEVE that what you SAY WILL HAPPEN, IT WILL BE DONE FOR YOU. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, BELIEVE THAT YOU HAVE RECEIVED IT, AND IT SHALL BE DONE FOR YOU.”

If you believe in it with all your heart and soul, that you already received it, anything is possible!

But if you’re in your lowest low, down beaten or maybe feeling hopeless, it sure wouldn’t be a walk in the park. But consider this, if you do not change the way you think, it will be that way forever. If you’re down, the only way to go from there is up. You have everything to gain and nothing to lose.

If you want change, then change for the better. Take concrete action, do not just imagine it. And since it’s FREE, it is open to everyone, not just a chosen few. I don’t know about you but the prospect of having a better life rather than staying in the same situation forever is a much better option for me.

I’ll be writing more about my own experience re the secret in the coming weeks or so, updates and all that stuff, so stay tuned. Maybe we can share notes and experiences, just send me a note on this link.

HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone!!!
